Dr. Stephanie Pelenyi

When working in rural areas, it's important to make the most of available resources in order to provide quality, patient-centered care that is cost-effective

Dr. Stephanie Pelenyi, a recent Avalon University graduate, has obtained her residency at East Tennessee State University in Family Medicine. During her time at Avalon, she has met individuals from diverse backgrounds with a common interest in the Medical field, creating lifelong bonds and an invaluable medical school journey.

Dr. Pelenyi has spent time working as a Family Medicine Practitioner in a rural area, becoming an integral part of her local community. In her residency at a University setting, Dr. Pelenyi has been granted access to a wide range of resources such as addiction counselors, dieticians, and social workers from whom she has been gaining knowledge that can be directed towards the patients in these communities. She has been able to supply medical attention to those who previously did not have access, providing her with the greatest sense of personal fulfillment.

Loyalty, reliability, courage, and protective nature are attributes that Dr. Pelenyi shares. Outside of her work in medicine, Dr. Pelenyi has started a dog rescue initiative in the Caribbean and has since adopted four dogs and is very enthusiastic about promoting canine adoption. As well as continuing serving the canine community, Dr. Pelenyi plans to serve rural communities and participate in annual mission trips to charitable activities to serve her patients and continue to make the world a better place.

Dr. Pelenyi not only serves her patients, but she works with Avalon’s dedicated faculty to serve her fellow Alumni by participating on Avalon’s Alumni Committee. Her experience as a previous student gives her fellow committee members a fresh perspective on what support and updates current and future Alumni would like to see from Avalon University.
