Rajiv Mallipudi, an esteemed alumni of Avalon University, has built a remarkable career in medicine, driven by a profound sense of purpose and dedication. Rajiv highlights the intrinsic reward of helping others as the core of his passion. “In the simplest sense, I love that I can help people. I can help people with all types of conditions and get them better. It’s very rewarding. In addition, I love how I am constantly learning on the job and applying my joy for science to help others.”
This dynamic interplay between constant learning and patient care underscores his enthusiasm for the field, illustrating that medicine is as much about personal growth as it is about professional achievement. Tips for balancing out personal and professional growth? “Work life balance is key. However, I was able to manage with support and a schedule.”
Dr. Yang Yang, a 2023 graduate of Avalon University School of Medicine, has become an inspiring figure in the medical community. His story is a testament to the power of perseverance and the unwavering support of a nurturing educational environment like Avalon University.
Dr. Yang’s path to medicine was driven by a deep-seated desire to make a positive impact on the lives of others. At Avalon, he thrived academically. His professors and peers admired his unwavering dedication and positive outlook. Dr. Yang’s ability to excel in the demanding curriculum of medical school showcases not only his intellectual prowess but also his extraordinary capacity to overcome obstacles. After achieving his degree at Avalon University School of Medicine, Dr. Abubakr Alfaouri has recently acquired his Internal Medicine Residency at Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital. He continues to dedicate his life to medicine and uses his strengths to impact the lives of others in a positive and life-changing way.
Like an Eagle, Dr. Alfaouri soars above and beyond. He uses the knowledge he gained during his time at Avalon, for example the program Organ Wise, a program where students would present an organ system in the viewpoints of different disciplines, and implements these methods to aid those in his community. Dr. Alfaouri took part in the Free Health Fairs that the University offered to the Island’s residents, and these experiences inspired him to offer these services to the residents of his community. During the COVID-19 Pandemic, he volunteered his time to help test 15,000 residents of Passaic County, New Jersey.
Dr. Bikram Sharma, 2016 AUSOM graduate, has continued to flourish after his time here at Avalon University. In a recent conversation, he states he misses exploring the beautiful beaches of Curaçao, and the Physical Diagnosis Course with Dr. Arja, however he is very grateful that he obtained his Residency at Rosalind Franklin University. He strives, and succeeds, to follow in his father’s footsteps by being intelligent, sophisticated, and being dedicated to helping others.
His passion towards helping his patients in Psychiatry is leading him to run 2 inpatient rehabilitation centers and an intensive outpatient program to help serve those struggling with addiction. He puts his patients’ needs first by going above and beyond for them, taking the lead, and advocating for their appropriate care. He does for his patients what he would do for his family. Dr. Sharma feels that he resembles a Lion, in that way, because he would do anything to protect his pack, his family.
