Hi, my name is Karanbir Singh. I also go by KB. I’m a recent graduate of Avalon University School of Medicine. I graduated in 2021, and I’ve successfully landed a residency position. It was not an easy journey, but it was a journey where I got to where I needed to be with the help of Avalon University. I did a 5-year program, a pre-med integrated MD program, so one year was pre-med. Then two years of basic sciences, we studied anatomy histology, all the basic science fundamentals for going into clinical.

Avalon University has great electives and core clerkships across the US, like Illinois, Arizona, and West Virginia. Some hospitals affiliated with Avalon University are university and academic centers with residency programs. Hence, the quality of training and clinical experience that the students here get are pretty high.

After my clinical rotations, Avalon has helped me successfully match in an Internal Medicine residency program at South Alabama University for Internal Medicine. The journey wasn’t easy because of some hardships I had to overcome, such as finding preceptors during COVID-19; there were a lot of other obstacles, too, but Avalon University helped in every way!

Avalon University also has many scholarships that help financially, they have great outreach programs, and Dr. Ghani, Associate Dean of Post-graduate training, reached out to me when I didn’t match first. Dr. Ghani reviewed my residency application and gave me valuable pointers and tips to strengthen my application for next year. And this helped me get a lot more interviews and gave me a great perspective of what I needed to improve and what I was missing. So all his wealth of wisdom helped me land the residency position.

I had a great time here at Avalon University. Avalon University also has a research activity integrated into the curriculum where students can get more involved in research work and have publications, which further propagates their residency application.

I love my journey in Avalon, so Avalon is a great school both supportively and academically. I wholeheartedly enjoyed my journey here, and I recommend Avalon to anybody.
